Boston, MA — Mount Royal Cougars women's hockey goaltender Kaitlyn Ross has been invited to training camp with the Boston Fleet of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL), taking the next step in her career after an exceptional university run.

Ross, from Redcliff, Alberta, finishes her Mount Royal career as the most decorated goaltender in program history. Over 108 career games, she compiled 70 wins, 2294 saves, and 27 shutouts, setting all-time school records in each category. She also holds Mount Royal's records for career goals-against average, games started, total games played, and minutes in goal.

A central figure in the Cougars' rise to national prominence, Ross backstopped Mount Royal to the 2023 U SPORTS National Championship, the first in program history. Known for her calm presence, technical precision, and consistent play in high-pressure situations, she leaves the university game as one of its premier goaltenders.

Ross's next challenge will be with the Boston Fleet, one of the six founding franchises in the PWHL. Originally launched in 2023, the Boston-based team rebranded as the "Fleet" ahead of the 2024–25 season to reflect the city's rich maritime and naval heritage. The team plays its home games at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, Massachusetts, and features a roster of international talent and Canadian stars from the NCAA and U SPORTS ranks.

Now entering its third PWHL season, Boston is aiming to rebound from a challenging 2024–25 campaign and has invited Ross to compete for a roster spot as the team builds toward a new chapter. Her invitation highlights the growing respect for U SPORTS athletes in the professional game and reflects the high-performance culture built at Mount Royal in recent years.

Camp is expected to open later this summer as the Fleet prepares for the 2025–26 season. Ross will look to make her mark at the professional level and continue her remarkable goaltending journey.
