The University of Toronto Varsity Blues are excited to share the appointment of Sean Slapnicar as Varsity Blues curling head coach, effective immediately.

"It's an incredible honour to lead the University of Toronto curling team at one of Canada's most prestigious institutions," said Slapnicar. "I'm excited to build a high-performance program that not only pushes our athletes to excel, but also positions us to bring home an OUA championship. The foundation is here—we're ready to aim high, work hard, and make something special happen."

Slapnicar joins the Blues via Leaside Curling Club where he has fostered athlete development and high-performance with the interclub traveling team. The NCCP certified coach brings with him an expertise in recruitment, team building, and tactical game preparation.

A versatile coach, Slapnicar also holds NCCP certification as a hockey coach, working with various clubs including Mimico Minor Hockey, Etobicoke Bulldogs, and West Mall Lightning. As well, he has coached lacrosse and volleyball.

After leading the curling program last season, Susan Baird will remain with the Varsity Blues as a technical coordinator and consultant. Meanwhile, Rob Harling will also remain with the program as the men's curling team lead.
