Resar signs with Macon Mayhem of SPHL

Sebastian Resar's stellar season with Toronto has earned him a shot at professional hockey, as the Varsity Blues goalie inks a deal with the Macon Mayhem.

University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey goalie Sebastian Resar has signed a professional contract with the Macon Mayhem of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL).

"Sebastian came in and did an excellent job in his role last season," said Varsity Blues head coach Ryan Medel. "He worked extremely hard and we saw a lot of development in his game as the year progressed. He was a great teammate and we are happy for the opportunity he has to play in the SPHL."

Joining the Blues after splitting time between the Lloydminster Bobcats of the AJHL and Rockland Nationals of the CCHL, Resar appeared in four regular season games for U of T during the 2024-25 campaign. The Whitby native earned two wins, including his first career OUA victory in a 36 save effort at Lakehead on Oct. 4. Resar bettered that outing with a season-high 37 saves at TMU on Oct. 9.

The Macon Mayhem are a professional SPHL ice hockey team based in Macon, Georgia.

Resar becomes the sixth Varsity Blues player from the 2024-25 roster to move onto a professional team after their U of T career.
