The UNBC Timberwolves Men are entering an important weekend as the mid-way point of the season draws near. All of a sudden a log-jam has appeared in the upper-half of the Pacific Division standings, and the TWolves find themselves neck and neck with both UFV and Trinity Western for a top four spot. Friday night at Masich Place, the Timberwolves take to the pitch for a single clash with the Saskatchewan Huskies. Three points tomorrow night would be massive for the TWolves and they'll look to do so against a winless Huskies squad.

Saskatchewan Huskies:
Record: 0-3-1
Goals For: 2 (13th in Canada West)
Goals Against: 6 (5th in Canada West)
Most Goals: Kiran Baker, Makariy Pryadko (1)
Most Points: Kiran Baker, Makariy Pryadko, Alessandro Calado (1)
Most Saves: Jaron Slopinski (9)

Player to Watch: Ethan Cabral

Midfielder Ethan Cabral has been an integral figure for the Saskatchewan Huskies in each of the past four seasons. The product of East Saint Paul, MB has appeared in 47 career games for the Huskies since 2022 and has started 41 of them. During that span he's scored eight times, including a team-high four a season ago. Cabral has been held pointless so far this season but it's only a matter of time before the veteran makes his mark offensively in a game.  The TWolves are hoping that this weekend won't be that time.

UNBC Timberwolves:
Record: 3-2-1
Goals For: 9 (5th in Canada West)
Goals Against: 9 (T-8th in Canada West)
Most Goals: Josh Jordan (3)
Most Points: Wyatt Lyon (4)
Most Saves: Logan Pierce (32)

Player to Watch: Logan Pierce

For a second straight season, Logan Pierce finds himself in familiar territory – at the tippy-top of the Canada West saves leaderboard. Pierce has played every second of soccer for the TWolves so far this season and is coming off his most impactful performance to date. Last Saturday in Victoria, Pierce dazzled with a nine-save effort against the Vikes, and came within mere minutes of completing a clean sheet and helping his team secure three points. Unfortunately a late stoppage time goal from Victoria gave UNBC one point as opposed to three, but it was absolutely a performance that Pierce can build off of heading into this crucial area of the schedule.

Milestone Watch:

  • With four assists already this season, Wyatt Lyon sits just two shy of matching Kensho Ando's single-season program record (6).
  • Rookie Josh Jordan's three-goals put him one shy of matching Brandon Wallace's program rookie goal-scoring record (4).
  • Adam Korduner sits two games shy of 30 for his Canada West career.
  • Luke Graham and Logan Pierce each arrived at the 20-game mark for their Canada West careers last weekend in Victoria.
