Abbotsford, BC – The UFV Cascades dropped a three set decision(23-25, 17-25, 21-25) to the Brandon University Bobcats on Saturday night at the UFV Athletics Centre.

The loss sees UFV fall to 0-12 on the year, while Brandon goes to 5-7.

How it happened
UFV started strong, with kills from Easton Sarich and Roan McCarthy giving the team a 14-10 lead in the first. However, the Bobcats would chip away at the lead to tie it up at 22 on a UFV error, before scoring three of the next four points including the set winning ace from Thomas Friesen.

With it tied up at six in the second, Brandon would find the decisive edge with a 10-4 run and they would cruise to the second set win.

UFV and Brandon traded shots throughout the third, but with the score level at 16, two consecutive aces from Riley Brunet would force a Cascades timeout. Despite a pair of kills from Hudson Brandsma in the late stages, UFV was unable to make up any ground, falling 25-21 to close out the match.

Notable:
Easton Sarich had a team-high 11 kills while hitting .368 in the match for UFV, while setter Silas Van Huizen had 29 assists, and libero Yahia Elsayed had eight digs.

Thomas Friesen and Liam Pauls each posted 10 kills for Brandon in the win.
