(FREDERICTON, NB) The seven-time defending Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey champion UNB REDS are adding veteran forward Stu Rolofs, of Carp, Ontario, to their recruiting class of 2025.

He’s signed a U SPORTS Letter of Intent and will join the REDS ahead of the 2025-2026 AUS season.

After a major junior career in which he played for the Ontario Hockey League’s London Knights and Oshawa Generals, the 6’3” forward spent the 2024-25 season with the East Coast Hockey League’s Greenville Swamp Rabbits.

“Stu is a big addition for us, and we couldn’t be happier to add a player of his pedigree to our group,” said REDS’ head coach Rob Hennigar. “A natural centreman and one with his size gives us an edge down the middle. He can make plays and understands how to play both ends of the ice.”

“Being able to get a high-quality university degree along with being able to play for a program that is second to none in terms of a winning culture and moving players to the professional level is what led me to UNB,” said Rolofs, who chose the REDS over other university and professional opportunities.

In 62 games with the Swamp Rabbits last season, Rolofs scored five goals and assisted on 18 others.

In 219 regular season games over five OHL seasons with London and Oshawa, Rolofs scored 80 goals and registered 87 assists. In 32 playoff games with the Generals, he added six goals and a dozen assists.

“We’ve followed Stu closely for the last few years and think he can step in and play a big role right away,” said Coach Hennigar. “We will lean on him to play in all situations and help our group grow and develop together.”

Rolofs will be among some familiar faces when he arrives in Fredericton.

He joins fellow former Generals Luke Torrance and Luca D’Amato in UNB’s recruiting class of 2025, and he played previously with former London Knights and current REDS Cody Morgan and Camaryn Baber.

“Being fortunate enough to have been part of two of the most successful junior hockey organizations and with a full year of pro hockey under my belt is something that, I believe, makes me a valuable recruit,” said Rolofs.

“I’m an offensive minded forward with a high hockey IQ and I have great speed and size,” he added. “I pride myself in being a good teammate and providing leadership.”

Rolofs has attended NHL development or rookie camps with the Minnesota Wild and Ottawa Senators.

He’ll study Business while attending UNB.
