TORONTO — The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold men's soccer team is excited to welcome central midfielder Brandon Verburg to its 2025-26 roster.

A native of Bradford, Ont., Verburg brings a diverse background and strong foundation in the game. He spent a decade developing at ANB Futbol Academy, known for its focus on player development and elite training. He then joined the York United Academy for a season before beginning his semi-professional career with the Simcoe County Rovers, gaining experience in both League1 and League2 over the course of two years.

The midfielder also had a standout high school career at Holy Trinity Catholic High School, where he captained the team to an OFSAA championship victory in 2024. He also maintained honour roll status consistently throughout his high school studies.

His training includes overseas experience, having spent time with Larne FC in Northern Ireland.

A tough and driven player, Verburg believes his strengths come from his ability to navigate passes and battle through tough matches.

He will be pursuing a degree in Business Management at TMU. He comes to the Bold with an existing history, having played alongside Aidan Hugo, Luc Ihama and Noah Bickford with the Simcoe County Rovers. His decision to commit to TMU was influenced by the strong endorsements he received from players part of the Bold program.

"I think with the team we have this year, and the chemistry some of the players already have, we have a good chance at winning everything this year," said Verburg.

Verburg becomes the fifth addition to TMU's 2025-26 recruiting class, joining a promising group of new Bold players.
