University of Regina swimming coach Baylee Munro announced Wednesday the signing of six swimming recruits who will round out the 2025 recruiting class. Isaac Currie (pictured right), Adalbert Zhang (left), Chloe Hegi (center), Mason Hickman, Mekayla Erpelo, and Kelsey Jones are all set to join the program in the Fall.
Currie – who graduated from Campbell Collegiate in Regina – qualified for the 2024 Canadian Swimming Trials. He has personal bests of 1:06.06 in the 100-metre breaststroke, 2:23.68 in the 200-metre breaststroke, and 2:10.95 in the 200-metre medley. He plans to enroll in the Faculty of Science in the Fall.
Zhang also graduated from Campbell Collegiate. Originally from Henan, China, he recorded lifetime bests in every event he raced in the 2024-25 season, including PB's of 28.11 in the 50-metre fly and 1:03.91 in the 100-metre fly. He will be enrolling in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science in the Fall.
Hegi is a graduate of O'Neill High School in Regina. She qualified for the 2022 Canada Games and has personal bests of 26.95 in the 50-metre freestyle, 58.92 in the 100-metre freestyle, and 2:07.49 in the 200-metre freestyle. She will be enrolling in the Faculty of Business Administration in the Fall.
Hickman hails from Red Deer, Alberta, where he graduated from Olds High School. Hickman is a 6-time provincial champion at the Alberta Summer Swimming Championships and has personal-bests of 59.54 in the 100-metre backstroke, 2:10.94 in the 200-metre backstroke, and 54.67 in the 100-metre freestyle.
Erpelo graduated from Sisler High School in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was a five-time Provincial relay swimmer for Team Manitoba and has personal bests of 30.40 in the 50-metre backstroke, 1:05.74 in the 100-metre backstroke, and 2:23.97 in the 200-metre backstroke. She will be enrolling in the Faculty of Arts in the Fall.
Jones is from Sylvan Lake, Alberta, graduating from École H.J. Cody High School. She is a two-time Alberta Provincial Trials champions and has personal-bests of 27.80 in the 50-metre freestyle, and 1:01.04 in the 100-metre freestyle. She will be enrolling in the Faculty of Science in the Fall.
These six recruits join Aubry Haldorson and Sadie Anderson to form Coach Munro's 2025 recruiting class.
