TORONTO — The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold women's hockey team is excited to add forward Riley Del Monte from Mississauga, Ont., to its 2025-26 recruiting class.
"Hockey is in Riley's blood," said Bold head coach Lisa Haley. "She's grown up in a hockey family and it shows. She brings a high level of skill and play-making ability. She's able to create chances for her line-mates because she anticipates the game so well. She's also able to finish chances herself when tight to the net, and plays much bigger than her size. Welcome to the TMU Bold family Riley!"
Del Monte comes to TMU following two seasons with the North York Storm Jr. U22 Elite AA team. She has represented Germany at both U16 and U18 levels, including competing in the IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women's World Championships. Her hockey journey also includes playing for Northwood School in the United States, and several Ontario-based club and school teams.
Known for her competitive drive and hockey IQ, Del Monte combines skillful playmaking with strong defensive commitment. Despite her smaller stature, she competes with passion and determination, using her speed and awareness to create offensive opportunities while also contributing defensively through shot blocking and team support.
Academically, Del Monte will pursue a degree in Business Management at TMU. She chose TMU for its strong hockey program, excellent athletic facilities, and supportive coaching staff. "Academically it also has an amazing business program which is what I want to go into, plus it is close to home and I get to go with two of my best friends from my previous team. It simply seemed like all the pieces were just falling into place perfectly and I would've been crazy to say no."
At TMU, Del Monte will join former North York Storm Jr. teammates Abby Fletcher and Ava Assinewai as they continue their Bold careers together.
After a humbling reality check on the road, the top-ranked Thunderbirds return to Vancouver seeking to defend a 21-game home winning streak against a surging Calgary squad and debut a high-profile Russian recruit.
