REGINA - Needing only 80 minutes, the U SPORTS #1 ranked Pandas improved to 9-2 with a 3-0 road win over Regina.
Alberta forced 25 attack errors from the Cougars, to go along with 11 total blocks and seven aces.
Abby Guezen led Alberta with a match-high 13.0 points, recording eight kills, three aces, and four block assists despite facing heavy defensive attention throughout the night. Ronnie Dickson was a difference-maker at the net, finishing with four kills, four aces, and three block assists for 9.5 points, anchoring a Pandas block that consistently disrupted Regina's rhythm.
Laila Johnston added eight kills and six digs, while Payton Henderson chipped in five kills and four service aces, applying steady pressure from the end line. Setter Justine Kolody directed the offence with 24 assists and nine digs.
For Regina, Samantha Krausher led all Cougars with 13 kills, while Jordy McEachern contributed seven kills, five aces, and a team-high 13 digs in the loss.
The opening set featured early momentum swings, with seven tie scores. Alberta gradually pulled away behind steady side-out play from Johnston and Henderson. A late service run from Dickson, including an ace, helped the Pandas close the set, while Regina struggled to convert clean looks despite Krausher's six early kills.
Regina stayed competitive through the middle of the frame, but Alberta's block began to assert itself. Guezen and Dickson combined on multiple stuffs as the Cougars hit -.044 in the set. Henderson added pressure with two aces, and Kolody spread the offence effectively to keep Regina off balance. Alberta closed the set on a 4–1 run, capitalizing on Regina attack errors.
The Cougars made their strongest push in the third, led by Krausher and McEachern, who helped Regina hold narrow leads at several points. Alberta responded with composure. Johnston scored on consecutive swings to regain control at 18–17, and Guezen followed with a service ace to widen the gap. Regina trimmed the deficit to one late, but a Henderson kill and a Dickson block sealed the straight-sets victory.
