It's hard to believe but the final home weekend of the Thompson Rivers WolfPack women's basketball team's 2025-26 season is here as the 'Pack are set to host the UFV Cascades and UBC Thunderbirds inside the TCC.
Facing the Cascades at 5:30 p.m. in a rare Thursday night game, the WolfPack will then play UBC at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Coming toward the end of the season, the games will be incredibly important for the 'Pack. TRU is currently knotted up with both the aforementioned Cascades and the UVic Vikes with six wins so far this season. A win over UFV on Thursday would go a long way in the WolfPack's bid to qualify for the Canada West playoffs for the first time since 2019-20.
TRU (6-8) split a pair of games with the UBC Okanagan Heat on home court last weekend. After suffering defeat on Friday, the WolfPack bounced back with an impressive 53-45 victory on Saturday. Sydney Vollrath scored a game-high 17 points while Hailey Merrigan pulled down 14 rebounds in TRU's first win over UBCO since 2021.
UFV (6-7) comes into the weekend on a high. The Cascades were on the road in their last action and secured a pair of victories (73-57, 68-60) over the UVic Vikes. Julia Tuchscherer was named the Caanda West Women's Basketball Player of the Week after scoring 27 points Friday and 25 Saturday.
UBC (8-4) was also impressive in their last action. The Thunderbirds swept the division-leading TWU Spartans in convincing fashion with wins of 85-55 and 58-45 on home court.
TRU and UFV split the two games that they played down in Abbotsford earlier in the year while the T-Birds picked up two wins against TRU in Vancouver.
Heat set to participate in 19th annual U SPORTS women's basketball breast cancer fundraising campaign.
