Ericka Gagnon stopped 32 shots to frustrate a persistent McGill attack on Sunday. Despite outshooting the Gaiters, the Martlets squandered six power-play chances while Naomi Côté sparked the offence for the nationally ranked hosts.

LENNOXVILLE, Que. — Naomi Côté scored twice as No. 9-ranked Bishop's blanked McGill 3–0 in RSEQ women's hockey, Sunday at the Jane and Eric Molson Arena.

McGill held a 32–26 edge in shots on goal but had six power-play opportunities and were unable to convert. BU finished 1-for-4 on the power play. 

Côté opened the scoring at 3:46 of the first period, and Justine Turcotte made it 2–0 with a power-play marker early in the second. Côté added her second of the afternoon at 12:23 of the third to seal the result.

In goal, Bishop's starter Ericka Gagnon turned aside all 32 shots she faced for the shutout, while McGill netminder Jade Rivard-Coulombe stopped 23 of 26 shots in a losing cause.

The victory lifted the second-place Gaiters to 8-2-3, while the Martlets fell to 1-7-5. The Gaiters will host a CEGEP all-star squad on Dec. 13 before resuming league play Jan. 16 against Montréal. McGill returns to action Jan. 8 with an exhibition game at McConnell Arena against the Italian Olympic team — whose staff includes McGill alumnus and former Redbirds forward and skills coach Alexandre Tremblay — before resuming the RSEQ schedule Jan. 16 at Concordia.
