The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team showcased a confident and composed performance to shut out the Carleton Ravens 2–0 at Varsity Stadium on Sunday (Aug. 31) afternoon.

The Blues opened the scoring in the 33rd minute on a goal by Emilija Lucic. Capitalizing on a Ravens turnover, Lucic rifled a precise shot past Ravens keeper Chloe Lachance-Soula. Her energy and creativity sparked life into the Blues attack during the latter part of the first half.

Toronto doubled their lead just minutes into the second half. Lucic, continuing her strong form, delivered a well-weighted assist to Hannah Anderson who one-timed a shot home to make it 2–0 in the 50th minute.

U of T's defensive unit led by Hannah Chown, Bryanna Campbell, and Samantha Gravina stayed composed and disciplined to limit Carleton to just three shots on goal despite ten total shot attempts. Blues goalkeeper Maria Godoy-Atrash held down the fort at the back, making three key saves en route to her second clean sheet in as many games this season.

The Blues matched Carleton's shot count at ten apiece, but orchestrated eight on net. Toronto was able to overcome 15 fouls with smart, aggressive pressing throughout both halves. Lucic finished the game with one goal, one assist, and three shots. The second-year midfielder was undeniably the difference-maker off the bench, with Hannah Anderson's goal leading to a commanding second half for the Blues.

The Blues continue their undefeated campaign with strong team chemistry and tactical discipline. With this win, the Blues improve to a perfect 2-0 record, while Carleton falls to 1-1.

The Blues return to the pitch on Sunday, Sept. 7 at Varsity Stadium to take on the Queen's Gaels. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tickets are free for U of T students and can be purchased at varsityblues.ca/tickets and the game can be streamed online via oua.tv.
