Abbotsford, BC – Aubrey Gingles led the way for the UFV Cascades, in her first start of the season, as they took down the Brandon University Bobcats in four sets (25-20, 18-25, 25-18, 25-19).

The win pushes the Cascades to 6-5 on the season, while Brandon drops to 1-10 in Canada West play.

How it happened
UFV took a command of the opening set, picking up multiple runs including a late serving streak from Aubrey Gingles to make it 23-12. Brandon would rally late, but an Andi Calon block closed out the set 25-20 for UFV.

The Bobcats battled back to take the second set. With the set tied at 10, a pair of blocks and a pair of Stephanie Miller aces gave Brandon the advantage as they closed it out 25-18.

A pair of Naomi Unger kills, and two more from Gingles gave the Cascades an 18-10 lead in the third set, and Gingles would end the frame 25-18.

Brandon would go up 5-1 in the fourth, but UFV would storm back to go up 22-15 before eventually closing out the match with a Gingles ace, 25-19.

Notable:
Gingles, starting her first game of the season, led all hitters with 15 kills while adding three aces. Talia Attieh added 14 kills in the win for UFV.

Madelyn Hettinga led Brandon with eight kills, while Nerissa Dyer added six.

"[Starting today] was a great opportunity, and I think I took full advantage of it. The whole team is super supportive. It's really nice that they have my back."
