A 6'1" forward from Toronto, Ontario, Cruickshank has developed through several high-performance programs, including the Scarborough Blues JUEL team, where she has competed from 2024–2026. She has also suited up for Raise Her Game in both 2023 and 2025, Kia Nurse Elite Regional in 2024, and Toronto Triple Threat during the 2023–24 season.
Cruickshank has demonstrated strong academic commitment alongside her athletic development, earning JUEL Honour Roll recognition. She has been accepted into Dalhousie's Bachelor of Science program in Biology.
"I chose Dalhousie because of its strong academics and worldwide reputation," says Cruickshank. "I could really see myself living and studying at Dal—the campus had a great, inclusive atmosphere. I also have meaningful family connections to the school, with both my grandfather and great-grandfather studying law there."
McKay is excited about the impact Cruickshank can make in the Tigers program. "Leah is a versatile forward with size, mobility, and a strong work ethic. Her experience across multiple competitive environments shows in her confidence and her willingness to compete. She's eager to learn, committed to her development, and brings a positive energy that fits well with our culture. We're thrilled to welcome her to the Tigers family."
Cruickshank is equally enthusiastic about joining the program. "I'm excited to play for Dalhousie," she says. "The team has great energy and spirit, and I'm really looking forward to playing for Coach McKay. I'm ready to work hard and do everything I can to make an impact on the court next season."
The Tigers continue to build toward the 2026–27 AUS season as they welcome Cruickshank to the Black & Gold.
The WolfPack enters its final home stand locked in a mid-table stalemate, chasing a crucial victory against the UFV Cascades to secure the program's first post-season berth in six years.
