TORONTO — The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold men's basketball team is excited to announce the addition of wing/forward Imisi Motunde to the 2025-26 recruiting class.
The London, Ont. native has an expansive basketball background. He played for the London Ramblers in the JUEL League from 2017 to 2020, earning Team MVP honours in both 2018 and 2019, while also serving as team captain. In 2018, he helped lead the Ramblers to an OBA silver medal and was selected to the OBA All-Star Team.
From 2021 to 2023, he continued his basketball journey at AZ Compass Prep in Arizona, where he balanced athletics and academics. He earned a place on the Principal's Honour Roll in both 2021 and 2022.
He returned to Canada to complete his secondary school career at A.B. Lucas Secondary School from 2023 to 2025. In his final season, he was named a TVRA All-Star and recognized as a 2025 Mr. Basketball Nominee.
In addition to his team play, he has continuously developed his game through elite training and competition. He was a part of the UPlay Canada program (2020-2023), STRIVE Hoops (2022-2024), Team RHJ (2022), and Dream Chaserzzz (2024).
Versatile and driven, Montunde is eager to join the Bold and continue refining his skills both on and off the court.
Reflecting on his decision to choose TMU, he praised the program's welcoming environment: "From the minute I met the coaches, players, and training staff, I knew it was going to be my home away from home. Not only did everyone make a connection with me but my family as well, making us all feel very comfortable and welcomed," said Montunde.
He will arrive at TMU already familiar with one of his new teammates, Joey Kleuskens, a fellow 2025-26 recruit. The two previously played together with STRIVE Hoops. He plans to study Business Management and is eager to begin his academic and athletic journey in the heart of downtown Toronto.
Montunde is the first on the list of what promises to be a talented 2025-26 recruiting class for the Bold.
