TORONTO — The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold men's basketball team is happy to announce the addition of OUA transfer Darnaz Mabanza to its 2025-26 recruiting class.

The Whitby, Ont., guard began his OUA career with the University of Ottawa in the 2021-22 season before joining Nipissing University, where he has spent the past three years. In his 2023-24 season with the Lakers, he was named the Men's Basketball Team MVP, acknowledging his outstanding contributions to the team. Showing his devotion to both academics and athletics, he is a two-time Academic All-Canadian.

Mabanza decided to spend his final U SPORTS eligibility year with the Bold as he felt a strong connection to the coaching staff, "It was clear that they were committed to helping me achieve not only my goals as a player but also my aspirations beyond basketball."

He will be pursuing a certificate in Economics and Finance at TMU, ready to work hard to meet his athletic and academic goals.

Mabanza is the fifth recruit of TMU's 2025-26 recruiting class, a strong and dynamic group poised to elevate the Bold's roster.
