The Acadia Axemen basketball program has added size and skill with the commitment of 6’7 forward Doudou Christ Emmanuel Diop, a versatile frontcourt player originally from Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
Diop joins Acadia after an impressive run with Cégep Édouard-Montpetit in Quebec, where he competed at both the Division 2 and Division 3 levels in the RSEQ. In 2024-25, he helped lead the Lynx to a 16-0 record and a conference championship while earning MVP honours and a spot on the league’s all-star team. He previously earned Rookie of the Year in the RSEQ D2 during the 2022-23 season.
Diop’s basketball journey includes significant international experience, having represented Ivory Coast at the U16 level and served as a long-time captain with Collège Voltaire Marcory. During his time there, he led teams to two U16 titles and one U14 title, while also capturing the 2018 Jr. NBA Africa Championship.
He will be enrolled in Acadia’s Law & Society program this fall.
“DouDou is a gifted athlete who is developing into a very good U SPORTS basketball player,” said Acadia head coach Mike Leslie. “He brings maturity and leadership and is an outstanding teammate. He has worked extremely hard to prepare to play at Acadia. DouDou is an outstanding person and a focused student-athlete, and he will do things on the basketball court that will be fun to watch.”
Daren Watts and Mason Kraus torched the perimeter Friday night, combining for 51 points to dismantle the Mount Royal Cougars and propel the Manitoba Bisons to a crucial road victory at Kenyon Court.
