OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech men's basketball team closed out the first half of the season with a strong home performance on Sunday night, earning a 76–59 win over the McMaster Marauders at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.
The Ridgebacks used a dominant middle stretch—outscoring McMaster 26–11 in the second quarter and 25–9 in the third—to take full control after a tight opening frame.
Keon Baker led all scorers with 23 points, adding six rebounds and four blocks, while TJ Richards delivered a well-rounded 14-point, eight-assist effort. Caleb Kassa added 12 points and eight rebounds, and Joakim Gouamba chipped in nine points off the bench.
Ontario Tech shot 44 per cent from three-point range and assisted on 21 of their 26 made field goals. Defensively, the Ridgebacks held McMaster to 31 per cent shooting and just nine third-quarter points.
The team now heads into the winter break and will return to action on January 9 when they travel to Ottawa to face the Gee-Gees.
Daren Watts and Mason Kraus torched the perimeter Friday night, combining for 51 points to dismantle the Mount Royal Cougars and propel the Manitoba Bisons to a crucial road victory at Kenyon Court.
