Victoria, BC – The University of Victoria men's basketball team displayed their dominance in a 90-81 win over the University of Fraser Valley, January 9th at CARSA Performance Gym.
 
The Vikes put on a scoring display in the first half.

  • There was no rust for the Vikes as the squad was quick to seize the lead and extend it to double figures early in the first half.
  • The Vikes had no trouble carving up the Cascades' defence and scored 25 points in each quarter of the first half. This offensive display allowed the Vikes to take a 50-30 lead to the locker room at halftime.

 
Cascades battled, but the Vikes' lead was insurmountable.

  • Fraser Valley pushed back in the third quarter, outscoring the Vikes 28-18 and cutting the lead to 10 points as the game headed to the fourth quarter.
  • The Vikes fended off the Cascades' final comeback attempts with a strong fourth quarter to secure the 90-81 victory.

The Vikes will return to the court tomorrow, January 9th at 7 p.m., in a rematch with the Cascades at CARSA Performance Gym.
