Acadia

Acadia earned a 77–65 win over Saint Mary's on Friday night at Stu Aberdeen Court, using strong defence and balanced scoring to hold off a second-half push. The Axemen recorded nine steals and built a large first-half lead that proved decisive.
Kyle Munro led Acadia with 20 points on 9-for-16 shooting, including two three-pointers, and added four assists. Ryan Regault finished with 14 points and six assists, making all four of his free throws. Donovan Reid posted 10 points, six rebounds, six assists and two blocks. Aaron Simmons added seven points and three steals.
Acadia set the tone early, opening the game with strong play in the paint. Robbie Grant scored on a layup off a pass from Regault, and Munro hit a three to give the Axemen an early edge. Gabe Davignon followed with two three-pointers as Acadia stretched the lead. Saint Mary's relied on Devawn White and Marcus Green for offence, but Acadia closed the first quarter ahead 25–11.
The Axemen continued to pull away in the second quarter. Davignon scored early, and Munro set up teammates with steady ball movement. Saint Mary's added baskets from White and Green, but Acadia's defence limited clean looks and forced turnovers. Simmons added late free throws as the Axemen built a 46–21 lead at halftime.
Saint Mary's responded after the break with a strong third quarter. Jayrell Diggs sparked the Huskies with three-pointers, including a buzzer-beater that cut the lead to 58–53. Regault answered with two timely threes, and Reid continued to distribute the ball to keep Acadia in front.
Acadia regained control in the fourth. Munro opened the quarter with a three and followed with a layup to extend the lead. Reid added a basket and a free throw to push the margin to 69–53. Diggs hit two more three-pointers to keep Saint Mary's close, but Regault sealed the game with four free throws in the final minute.
Diggs led Saint Mary's with 26 points, going 8-for-15 from three. White posted 17 points, 10 rebounds and four steals. Green finished with 11 points and three steals, and Jahsemar Olembe recorded six assists and three steals.
