The men's team consisting of current Tigers Lydell Husbands-Browne, Spencer Riar, Caleb Stewart, and Riley Stewart formed the Nova Scotia men's team. Forming the Nova Scotia women’s team was current Tigers Melina Collins, Samantha Manieri, recruit Victoria Fournier, and Olivia Logan from UNB REDS. Tigers guard Giovanni Ajiamah represented his home province of Manitoba.
The Sun Life Canada Hoops 3x3 Finals, organized by Basketball Canada, is a national qualification event with the winners representing Canada at the FIBA 3x3 championship. The Tigers qualified to be Team Nova Scotia at a Basketball Nova Scotia tournament on July 13 in Halifax. Joining the Bluenosers at the national championship were teams from Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, and Saskatchewan.
3x3 teams, with their compact rosters of four players, engage in games that are played for a single period of ten minutes. This format, with a continuous clock on a half-court with one hoop, adds an element of intensity and strategy to the competition.
The men's team faced off against Saskatchewan, Ontario, and Quebec in the round robin, demonstrating their competitive spirit, earning a win over Saskatchewan and fell to Ontario and Quebec in close games. They then triumphed over British Columbia in the quarter finals with a close 21-20 win, only to face a tough re-match against Ontario in the semifinals, which they narrowly lost 19-18. Despite this, the Nova Scotia men's team secured fourth place overall.
The women took to the court first against British Columbia with a 13-8 loss, later the same day they played Quebec with a hard-fought 12-9 loss, and finished the day against Alberta with a 12-9 final. The women's team finished the weekend eighth overall.
The men's and women's basketball teams will kick off their seasons on October 22 against Acadia at the Dalplex.
