QUICKLY
The University of Regina's Ian Teichler picked up a bronze and a gold medal & Shelaine Pritchard added a silver medal to lead the contingent of Cougars competing at the 2025 Canadian Track & Field Championships, which was held in Ottawa from July 30th to August 3rd.
PODIUM PERFORMANCES
Teichler kicked things off for the Cougars on the second day of competition, finishing 3rd with a personal best time of 14:27.24 in the U20 Men's 5000m.
Pritchard then took up the mantle, competing in the Senior Women's Heptathlon, a two-day seven discipline event. Pritchard set personal bests in the 200m (24.63) and 800m (2:28.18) on her way to a Heptathlon personal best score of 5263 points which was good for a silver medal.
On the final day of competition, Teichler returned to the track for the U20 Men's 3000m, where he raced to the top of the podium to become national champion with a time of 8:19.34.
FINALIST FINISHES
Jonathan Podbielski & Brett MacLean each earned spots in the Senior & U20 Men's 1500m finals, finishing 7th and 8th in their respective races.
PERSONAL BESTS
The Cougars collected 8 personal bests, including the four by Pritchard and Teichler. Others include Heidi Branning's 100m (12.08) and 200m (25.01), Olufemi Akinloye's 200m (21.64), and MacLean's 3000m (8:40.63). Daniel Eiswerth also achieved a seasonal best in the 800m (1:51.78).
