Former Windsor Lancers football linebacker Devin Veresuk has signed an NFL reserve/future contract with the Indianapolis Colts.

Following an outstanding CFL rookie season, Veresuk using his success to create an opportunity for himself in the NFL. The 24-year old Veresuk was selected second overall by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the 2025 CFL Draft following his career with the Lancers from 2020-24. The Windsor native was named the CFL's East Division Most Outstanding Rookie after a season that saw him record 66 tackles, three special teams tackles, two sacks, an interception, a forced fumble, and two touchdowns while playing in all regular season games. A season highlight came on June 27 against the Montreal Alouettes when Veresuk recorded a season-high eight tackles and grabbed a pick-six. The Tiger-Cats finished first in the East Divison with an 11-7 record, making it to the Eastern Final.

The decision for Veresuk to sign stateside with the Colts was an easy one, "The biggest thing that stood out to me when making my decision was what teams gave me a chance or some sort of opportunity last year when I was coming out of university as opposed to just now, and that answer is simply one: the Colts and the Colts only. None of the other teams gave me a chance or opportunity like they did, and that means something to me."

The Indianapolis Colts ended the 2025 NFL season with an 8-9 record, placing third in the AFC South division and missing the playoffs.

With the Lancers, Veresuk recorded 106 solo tackles (160 total) in 22 games across four seasons, as well as 14 tackles for a loss, nine sacks, two forced fumbles, and an interception. His time in the blue and gold culminated with an OUA second-team all-star selection in 2024, as he finished fifth in the OUA with 48 total tackles.

"Devin was the consummate Lancer Football student-athlete. Over his time at Windsor, Devin's leadership helped the program rise from the bottom of the OUA to one of the most competitive programs in the country," Lancer football head coach JP Circelli said.

"His football path demonstrates to others that you can achieve your dreams by staying home and being on a team with your friends, and playing in front of your family, while receiving a great education."

"Devin's impact will be long lasting with our Lancer Football Family and we are so proud of what he has already accomplished and excited to watch him grow at the highest level."

Veresuk spoke to his experience as a Lancer: "The biggest impact Lancer football has had on me is simply the relationships I've built along the way. I continue to stay in touch with nearly every single staff member with the team, as well as some of the current players. They were always there to support me as a Lancer and have still been there for me as I continue my professional career."
