The Huskies gridiron wasn't kind to the home team Saturday, as a potent aerial assault and stifling defense from Saint Mary's quickly silenced Mount Allison's hopes.

(Sackville, NB) Despite the final score, Mount Allison showed flashes in their 46–7 loss to Saint Mary's in Sackville on Saturday. The Mounties struggled early, falling behind 22–0 in the first quarter as Saint Mary's quarterback Justin Shibley led a sharp aerial attack. Mount Allison responded in the third quarter, piecing together an impressive 12-play, 88-yard drive capped by a 7-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Spencer Joudry to Rykert Balfe.

Mounties running back Owen Istace was a consistent force, rushing for 79 yards on 13 carries, while Shamar Parkinson added 39 yards on the ground and 33 through the air. Defensively, Ben Michel led the team with seven total tackles, and Chase Martin recorded an interception, with a return for 12 yards.

The Huskies were led by Shibley's 385 passing yards and two touchdowns, with Cherokee Robinson hauling in 184 yards and a score. The Saint Mary's defense forced three interceptions and limited Mount Allison's scoring chances.

Saint Mary's (2-0) return home next weekend to take on the Bishop's Gaiters on Saturday, September 6th, kickoff is at 3pm. Mount Allison (0-2) are on the road in Antigonish against the St. Francis Xavier X-Men on Saturday, September 6th, kickoff is at 2pm.
